Whether you are an experienced artist who wants to get clear on your next body of work, or you are a less experienced artist (or even a complete novice!) who wishes to explore creativity and discover your own unique expression, this 7 day sketchbook retreat was made for you!
All you need to commit to time-wise is one hour per day (30 minutes towards the start of the day and 30 minutes later in the day).
And all you need to have is a small range of supplies, including a sketchbook (a suggested material list is shown below).
The retreat will run from 1st to 7th August 2025, but you will have access to the daily lessons throughout the month of August, so please don't worry if you can't commit to these exact dates. You will have plenty of time to catch up!
Here is a brief run down of the retreat content
which will be sent to you in video format...
Day 1 - Introduction, setting intentions, choosing supplies, getting ready to create.
Days 2, 3, 4 & 5 - early - 30 min painting session, later - 30 min review session, inc prep for next day. You can of course spend longer if you want to.
Day 6 - Sketchbook review - noticing the threads - getting clear on what's important, unique, authentic and exciting to you.
Day 7 - Create a clear plan for your next creative move or your next body of work.
A Facebook group dedicated to this retreat will be open to you throughout the month of August for sharing your experiences with each other if you wish to.
The cost of this retreat is £99 which must be paid & received by 30th July 2025.
Supplies list:
1. a sketchbook to stick your work into
(I like A3, but min A4 size, preferably ring bound)
2. heavyweight paper to paint on
(min 200gsm, A3/A2 pad or min 4 large sheets. Watercolour/mixed media is ideal.)
3. Acrylic paints - black, white and min of 3 other colours
(I suggest a small range of colours that include 1 red/magenta, 1 yellow & 1 blue)
4. a roll of slim masking tape/washi tape
(I like Tesa precision tape, but this is only for sketchbook use, so any is fine)
5. Glue for sticking your work into your sketchbook
(I use Evo Stick PVA, but a glue stick is fine)
6. A range of tools to apply paint with - I suggest 6
(e.g different sized/shaped brushes, palette knife, old credit card, stiff cardboard, loo roll tube, cotton buds, a sponge, silicone wedges or tools, bubble wrap, cling film)
7. A palette or makeshift palette to squeeze your paints onto
eg paper plate / taped down grease-proof paper
8. Paper towels e.g kitchen roll/blue roll to clean up
Non essentials:
An old hairdryer to aid the drying process
Pencils, charcoal, pastels etc - only if you already have them.
